After working in the government sector for the majority of her professional life, the mother of three, decided it was time she looked into a second career for herself.

Aminah’s search for a career change led her to decide on #GetReadySG, a joint initiative by Generation Singapore and Microsoft. Her decision to apply led her to be a part of our inaugural #GetReadySG Jr Data Engineer cohort launched in 2021, in the midst of the global pandemic.

Aminah completed our industry-validated 12-week training bootcamp curriculum and did a 6-month internship at a global financial institution. Her hard work, perseverance, and skills impressed her colleagues and she was offered the opportunity to join as a full-time employee after her internship.

Her career change story was even mentioned by Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in his 2023 May Day Rally. Her decision was hailed as an example of how individuals can take ownership of their careers, continuously reskilling and upskilling, and taking up better jobs and opportunities throughout their professional lives.

No experience? No problem! Our #GetReadySG programmes are designed for individuals without any educational background or prior work experience in the technology sector.

We offer highly-subsidised 12-week intensive training bootcamps to support motivated mid-career individuals kickstart their in-demand tech careers in roles like Jr Full Stack Developer, Jr Data Engineer (like Aminah!), and Cloud Support & DevOps practitioner.

The comprehensive technical curriculum is industry-validated with employer partners in the local technology sector to ensure that you’ll be role-ready on Day One of your new job.
